    Telebehavioral Health

Telebehavioral health (TBH) is the use of technology to provide audio and/or video conferencing to communicate with a client in real time (synchronous communication). TBH is a method for enhancing the provision of counseling services using electronic information and telecommunications technologies. TBH does not include nonsynchronous (not real time) texts, secure messaging, and emails.

    Potential Benefits of Telebehavioral Health

Potential benefits associated with TBH include, but are not limited to:

    • Ongoing, increased, and easier access to counseling services at no additional cost with no travel time.
    • 100% HIPAA compliance.
    • Convenience of meeting from a location of the client’s choosing.
    • Prevention from a potential COVID-19 exposure.
    • An outlet for connection during a time of recommended “distancing”.

    Delivery of Telebehavioral Health Services

All psychotherapy sessions provided by Benson Counseling Services, LLC are being delivered via TBH at this time using telephone calls and SimplePractice telehealth videoconferencing appointments. Clients who prefer audio only will receive a telephone call from the therapist at the scheduled appointment time. Clients who prefer both audio and video can simply click on the SimplePractice video link when the session is scheduled to start and use the camera and audio functions on their computer or mobile device.
